Used by aristocracy and scholars, the Official’s
Hat chair was usually put in front of a screen in the main hall and reserved to
receive important guests. This elegant pair of Chinese antique chairs has the
additional feature of curved back splats. The members of this chair are delicate
and slender. The top rail, posts back splat, arm side posts and goose neck front
posts are expressed as sweeping curved lines. This kind of armchairs were
extremely common in the Ming dynasty, and this type of chair was most often seen
in the reception room, studio or bedroom. Please see the pictures. It is truly
an antique and collectible item. Don't miss it.
